The traditional collection from Helko is simply brilliant & represents Helko's elite series of axes. From years of experience Helko have made a fantastic range at brilliant value and I am amazed they can make such a quality product for the price. The handles on this range of axes are all Swiss made and are brilliantly comfortable and help Helko's axes to represent a perfect companion when in the forest.

They chop extremely well and hold an edge for a prolonged period of time due to Helko's forging and hardening process. They are easily comparable to the well known brands on the market today and surpass them in some ares.

The Black Forest Pack Axe is compact, lightweight, and easy to carry while trekking through the wilderness. It is beautifully crafted with a traditional wide bit German woodworker blade. These axes are made in Wuppertal, Germany, near the country's famous Rhein River Valley. The Rhein is one of Germany's most prominent geographical features, and has been a historically significant source of trade and growth for civilizations in the region for centuries. Cutting axes like these were a daily necessity for people carving out towns and villages in heavily forested areas along the river. The wide blade makes this axe exceptionally well suited for cutting work, and its compact size makes it a highly versatile and dependable packing tool. While this axe is most efficient at cutting, it will capably handle the splitting work required by your wilderness adventure. This is the equivalent size of a Small Forest Axe in other ranges.

This axe comes with a choice of Helko's standard or premium top grain American cowhide 6-7oz leather adjustable sheath. These are made in the USA by artisan leatherworkers from untreated, vegetable tanned full grain leather. The design allows it to be fully ambidextrous, unlike others, and means you can dye it, stain it or polish it to your own tastes.
